When it comes down to it, what is beauty blogging really? It's just people talking about their favourite lipstick or the best way to pluck their eye brows. One of the best things about it is finding people who have the same interests as you and don't want to spit in your eye for talking about blusher ... again! So why is there always so much drama?
Sometimes blogging is a bit like being back at school with all the cliques forming and bitching. I actually can't even be bothered talking about the dramz on twitter last night but it showed how quick everyone gets involved at the first sight of drama. But there's never such a buzz about something good, is there?
One resolution I am definitely making this year is to try and put a bit of positivity out there. I already do this but I'm going to make even more of a conscious effort to leave a comment when I'm really interested in a post, or retweet a post that I really enjoyed so that other people can too. Why not try and help each other and support each other instead of tearing people down constantly. Something as simple as telling someone how much you like something they've done can change people's whole day.
If you see someone on twitter asking a question that you know the answer to, why not just answer it even if you've never spoken to them before? I think a lot of times people do create little cliques, and maybe they don't even notice it. Obviously you're going to get along with some people a lot better than others but surely it's not hard to try and reach out to new people.
Let's just be pals, eh?
xxxx

Good for you with the resolution. I make a point to try and never be bitchy - because who does it hurt really? Yes, it may hurt the person we don't like but it ultimately hurts ourselves too because we're spending time on hate rather than happiness. xx
ReplyDeleteHear hear! I've noticed cliques forming recently too. It's silly really. And haha, kudos for the appropriate gif xo
ReplyDeleteThank you haha, I felt the post would not be complete without a mean girls reference!xx
DeleteI hate blogger dramas!
ReplyDeleteI have decided something similar with positivity this year, I'm trying to spread happiness like fairy dust haha xx
community > competition. people that try & turn blogging into a competition are ridiculous.

I have always preferred to be a loner than to fit in with the "popular group" it's stupid. If someone doesn't like me, they don't like me. And if someone loves my blog, then I'm the happiest person in the world. There are too many great bloggers out there who don't care about having 12,000 followers. I didn't even understand the blogging community when I started. I didn't know it existed. I'm glad it does and I'm glad there are people like you who also aren't worried about being one of the plastics ;)
ReplyDeletePahaaaa I love the image! Veery appropriate!!! SHE DOSENT EVEN GO HERE tehehe I'm holding a giveaway on my blog and I'd LOVE you to check it out!! :) xo
ReplyDeleteYou hit the nail on the head Gem, the reason I started a blog was to share and speak to like minded people that wont have me sectioned for spending £25 on a lipstick! I don't care how many followers I have, id rather have comments any day! Im never going to be a top blogger I can't take photos to save my life, im not highly articulate but I don't care. I enjoy reading blogs and adding to my own plain and simple. I will be holding a giveaway soon but not to gain followers, its to thank the 76 followers I do have for not unsubbing while I hadnt posted in 20yrs (slight exaggeration) xx
ReplyDeleteThis is a brilliant post, it's so true! People waste so much energy making a big song and dance about negative things, but life would just be so much nicer if everyone made more of an effort to be positive! Great resolution for 2013 :) xxx
